What's wrong with Australian tennis : Ever since the "Golden Age" of Australian tennis back in the 60s and 70s when the likes of Rod Laver,Ken Rosewall,John Newcombe,Tony Roache and Roy Emerson where not only household names in Australia but around the world, our tennis fortunes have slipped to the point of not having one men's player in the last 16 at the Aussie open,in fact the statistics paint a picture of decline that is nothing short of startling : Here are some sobering stats that should have us scratching our heads and asking what is going wrong with Tennis Australia. The last time a man won the Aussie open was Mark Edmondson back in 1976,the last male to win the French Open was Rod Laver in 1969,the last man to win a wimbledon title was Hewitt in 2002,who was also the last male to win the US open in 2001,since then it's then a drought of major proportions,so there is a valid question to ask, what has gone wrong : Is it time to clean out the administration and introduce new blood, the results appear to point in that direction.
